Thanks to Tom Betts' excellent WESTERNS ALL'ITALIANA blog for informing me that the Italian genre film director Guido Zurli has reportedly died on Oct. 23 at the age of 80. Zurli had a thirty year directing career, from the early 1960s to the 1990s including 18 features such as the Spaghetti western A MAN CALLED AMEN, Turkish westerns-KUCKUV COWBLY, horror-THE MAD BUTCHER,and obscure erotica. A personal favorite was his SIGPRESS CONTRO SCOTLAND YARD, a 1967 fumetti-style supercriminal adventure featuring GEORGE MARTIN and KLAUS KINSKI. Zurli was one of those energetic Terza level Italian barkers of European Trash Cinema.
